Background

Linda Hunt has always cared deeply about children. As an educator and a leader, her passion for helping young minds grow and learn goes far beyond the classroom. It’s a calling that drives everything she does, and it’s why she’s worked tirelessly to make a real difference in the lives of children, especially when it comes to teaching them about kindness, respect, and understanding.

With her children’s book, Linda takes a step into new territory, but it’s a step driven by the same love for kids that has shaped her entire career. This book isn’t just for kids—it’s for families. It’s a story that weaves an important lesson not only for children but also for parents, giving them a way to open up conversations that matter most.

The book revolves around a powerful lesson that will make you think, reflect, and, yes, even question what you can do to create a world where kindness and equality thrive. Through the eyes of its young characters, readers are taken on an unexpected journey—one that challenges the way we think about racism, empathy, and standing up for what’s right.

But the story is more than just words on a page. It’s designed to spark important conversations between parents and children, encouraging them to talk about things that can be hard to discuss but are so important to understand. It’s a gentle but powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in shaping a better, kinder world.

This isn’t just a book—it’s an invitation to embrace change, to lead with compassion, and to help build a future where every child, no matter their background, feels seen and valued. And once you dive into the pages, you’ll see that the lessons within are ones that will stay with you long after the story ends.

Are you ready to discover a lesson that will leave you thinking long after the book is closed?

About The Book

Meet Journey, an 11-year-old girl who’s just received her first phone—an exciting gift that opens up a whole new world. At first, everything seems harmless. With a quick swipe and a tap, Journey is connected to endless possibilities, to friends, to trends, and to an exciting digital universe. But as she spends more and more time on her phone, something starts to change. The world inside the screen becomes all-consuming, and slowly, she begins to drift away from the real world around her.

Her family notices it first—how Journey, once so full of life, now seems distracted, withdrawn, and distant. The house that was once filled with laughter and conversation now feels eerily quiet. Her friends notice it too—once inseparable, now they struggle to even get a word in. Journey is lost in the dark corners of the internet, a place where things aren’t always what they seem, where toxic trends and harmful influences lurk just a click away.

As the days pass, Journey’s connection to the world she once knew seems to fade. The more time she spends online, the harder it becomes to break free. But will her family be able to reach her before it’s too late? Will they be able to bring her back to the light of the real world, away from the shadows of the internet?

In this heartfelt, suspense-filled story, Linda Hunt tackles the dangers of digital addiction, the importance of real-world connection, and the power of family and friendship in helping a child rediscover what truly matters. The question remains: Can Journey escape the grip of the dark world inside her phone, or is it already too late?
